Welcome to Uptown
Uptown New Orleans is one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods. Originally, this part of the city was made up of large plantations that once belonged to German and English settlers and wealthy Americans that accumulated their wealth from railroads, the sugar industry, and shipping. Today, Uptown is home to two prestigious universities: Tulane University and Loyola University. Audubon Park is one of the main attractions of this area that showcases majestic oak trees, running and biking paths, the Audubon Park Golf Course, and the world-class Audubon Zoo. Uptown and Carrollton are made up of ten unique sections that have a rich and unique history. The ten sections of the Uptown/ Carrollton area are: Uptown, West Riverside, Freret, Broadmoor, Audubon, Marlyville-Fontain.
